About us

Rishi Foundation’s objective is the opening of a school for disadvantaged children in India. All efforts of the Rishi Foundation are dedicated to furthering the social cause of education to allow children of poor parents or without parents a meaningful and worthy life. It is Rishi Foundation’s particular concern to evoke a feeling of value and appreciation in these children for the fundamental life-giving, life-sustaining principles, both regarding to themselves, to others and to the natural and spiritual resources

The founder of the Rishi Foundation is the Mahant Mukesh Puri with the very appreciated encouragement and support of his gurus, friends and sponsors.

Mukesh Puri is a sannyasi who runs his own ashram since 2012 in the village of Shamgarh, Karnal district, which is situated about 140 km north of New Delhi, near the city of Kurukshetra (also known as the “land of Bhagwad Gita“), on the foot of the Himalayas. Since his grand guru Baba Vishwnath Puri ji has left his physical body, Mukesh Puri is successfully running the ashram and continuing the spiritual and social work.

In parallel, Mukesh Puri is member of the Shree Panch Dashnaam Juna Akhara, India’s largest and most ancient order of sadhus. He is working for this organization and is especially committed to the preparation work in view of the Kumbh Melas which are the largest peaceful gatherings on earth where millions of people meet to bathe in sacred waters of the holy rivers of India. The Kumbh Melas are inscribed on the UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Rishi Putra, which is the name given to him by his spiritual brothers and used in his daily life, decided in a very early age to put his energy, power and strength in the project of building a school for children of all horizons with the aim to nurture universal values like compassion and cooperation. This school will revive ancient values and be free of charge for children who don’t benefit of sufficient resources.

The Rishi Foundation is in the process of being registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Registrar of Companies (RoC) or the Registrar of Societies (RoS) in India.

“Your help is needed and highly appreciated.”
